Our Training Sessions
We are a small club and we hold three training sessions a week. Monday and Wednesday sessions begin at 7pm and we meet at the entrance to the swimming pool at Manor Leisure Centre, Station Rd, Whittlesey, PE7 1UA.
Monday is a structured training run with various speeds and distances depending on your ability. We use established routes of 3,4, 5 and 6 miles and we never let anyone run alone. We stick to circular routes with street lights in the winter. When the evenings become lighter the routes are more rural and varied as we aim to keep away from traffic.
The Wednesday session is more focused on speed training. This is a structured session on a measured course around the Snoots Rd estate in Whittlesey, and we meet first at the Manor Leisure Centre at 7pm. We work at our own ability and speed.
We also hold a family session on the field on the left at the Manor Leisure centre. This is a fun session which involves timed laps of the field of various distances, relay races and homemade cakes. In the winter this takes place on Saturday morning, and in the summer we enjoy the light evenings on a Friday evening. Times vary.
We are also planning to run our second Beginners course in May 2017. This free course aims to get individuals from the couch to 5km in 10 weeks in a safe and fun way. The course is well structured and run by qualified run leaders who are assisted by club members. It is aimed at absolute beginners or those who are returning to running after a long absence. The start date will be confirmed shortly.
